Presently, WINS operates six donation-driven Thrift Stores, an Operations Centre which houses a 12,000 sq ft Donation Center, a bulk thrift store (more store), and WINS’ e-commerce business (Twice New). WINS also operates five Program Centers, two of which are located by WINS stores and three which are in Calgary Housing complexes. The revenue from our thrift operations supports our programs, like House to Home, Retail Ready, Warehouse Ready and our five Community Resource Hubs. The costs of WINS Programs are also supported by fundraising and grant funding as well.

Scope And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Employment Services Coordinator, the Employment Support Worker is responsible for the delivery and facilitation of employment services programs such as but not limited to Retail Ready and Warehouse Ready Program. The role will consist of day-to-day classroom instruction, coordinating with Social Enterprise facilitators (Stores and Donation Centre), completing evaluations, and providing support to participants.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Employment Services Coordinator and team as well as other WINS teams to support participant success and in meeting/exceeding program outcome and deliverables.
  • Attend WINS’ stores to conduct participant check-ins during their work experience.
  • Ensure the delivery of WINS Employment Services Ready Programs which include but not limited to:
  • Coordinate and deliver aspects of the program to prepare participants for employment.
  • Facilitation of the day-to-day classroom sessions in accordance with the curriculum delivery; fill in for retail/warehouse facilitators and help deliver in retail/warehouse training for participants.
  • Manage the employment service program they are facilitating, including participant recruitment, intake process, participant evaluation, service evaluation, ongoing improvement, and administration.
  • Conduct the assessment of participants through the service. Identify areas of improvement and support participants in achieving success
  • Contribute to the placement support process for clients after service completion.
  • Complete weekly check ins with program participants
  • Conduct post-program follow-ups with participants.
  • Work with the Employment Services Team to maintain participant records including intake, evaluations, placements, statistics, and demographic data.
  • Support the updating of service curriculum and learning materials.
  • Support in the planning and organizing of Graduation celebration for successful program participants.
  • Maintain and ensure all data is input into the Salesforce database in a timely manner. Provide and submit reports when required.
  • Track and measure outcomes and results against targets/goals.
  • Represent WINS at community events when required.
  • Represent and promote the Employment Service Programs.
  • Ensure program participants positively engage in and comply with all WINS’ health & safety practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Promote WINS transparent leadership approach through open and honest communication when dealing with employees, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain employment service program standards and follow all protocols and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

  • Minimum of a post-secondary diploma related to education, social work, training, human services, or psychology. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role in a non-for-profit/charity setting with a strong focus or understanding of adult learning (such as career bridging, employment readiness, and skills development).
  • At least 1 experience in classroom or group facilitation.
  • Solid and positive experience with cultural diversity and inclusion in a programs’ setting.
  • Experience working with marginalized and diverse populations and an understanding of issues that may impact women and their family in crisis and/or in low-income situations.
  • Experience of the full training cycle (skills/ bridging to employment), including training design, training delivery, training evaluation, participant evaluation and administration.
