Overview:

GnoKids is a children’s English school with eight locations and growing in Tokyo and Kanagawa. We are seeking outgoing, enthusiastic, experienced teachers who love spending time and having fun with kids. We see ourselves as being at the cross-roads between regular Eikaiwa English schools and international schools, in that we have a strong focus on natural communication between our teachers and students, have extensive lesson and homework materials, and teach longer (90 minute) classes.

Position Details:

• Full-Time Teacher
• Contract Employee (with an opportunity to become a Full-Time Permanent Employee/seishain)
• Five-day workweek: Tuesday ~ Saturday
• 8 hour workday (including a 45 minute lunch break). The most common schedules are 10:30~18:30 or 12:15~20:15.
• Potential working locations: Jiyugaoka, Seijogakuen-mae, Kyodo, Higashi-Nihonbashi, Shirokane-Takanawa , Tama-Plaza (Kanagawa), Musashikosugi (Kanagawa), Moto-Yawata (Chiba).

Compensation and benefits:

• Starting Salary: 270,000 with annual increases, based on performance.
• Bonuses for contract completion (160,000).
• Transportation is fully reimbursed.

Paid vacations (25 days total):

• Golden week (3 days)
• Christmas (2 days)
• Summer and winter (5 days each)
• 10 additional paid days off in the first year (increasing yearly)
• The company will enroll you in, and pay 50% of the fees for health insurance, pension and employment insurance.

Our Method:

GnoKids uses an entirely original, detailed curriculum. We have original textbooks and videos for homework. Our classes are based around Project Based Learning, meaning lessons are structured around a project theme to give context to the language we’re teaching. We strongly believe in ‘learning through doing’ and our classes are very hands on.

At GnoKids, our ideal is true team-teaching. Classes have two teachers who should be equally involved in teaching a successful lesson. Having two teachers provides chances to model natural English exchanges to the students, create a fun atmosphere, and give the students more individual attention. We have small class sizes, with a maximum of 10 students per class and maintain a 1:5 teacher to student ratio to maximize students’ opportunity for production and teacher interaction.
