The Team

Contribute to impactful communication in SmartNews which has members from diverse backgrounds with different levels of language skills. Not only do we interpret and translation, but also provide other language solutions, including operational excellence improvement.

Responsibilities

• Interpreteting at meetings, all hands, events, interviews, conferences, and other speaking opportunities 

  • 90% simultaneous interpretation, 10% consecutive interpretation
  • 90% internal meetings, 10% meetings w/ external parties

• Translating internal documents and other materials (up to 20% of overall task load)

• Planning and managing tools, machinery related to interpretation and translation

• Acting as a communication supporter for employees in Japan, US, China, and Singapore

• Planning and executing linguistic programs

Requirements

Required experience/skills:

• 3+ years of professional experience as a full-time interpreter providing simultaneous interpretation (whispering, panaguide, RSI) 
• 2+ years of experience working in a corporate setting
• Able to start work at 8am or even earlier at times in order to accommodate a global meeting with participants from the US. May need to be on a business trip for about 2-5 days (domestic and international) 
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team setting
• Interest in providing linguistic support beyond interpretation
• Belief in the business, mission, and core values of SmartNews

Nice-to-have experience/skills:

• Experience working in a business environment in Japan and overseas

• Experience planning and executing any kind of programs

• Finished or took advanced classes of interpretation courses
