About Us

Varcon Inc., through its construction division VIS, provides consulting, engineering, and project management services across Canada, supporting infrastructure, telecommunications, and construction projects since 1987. To support upcoming provincial infrastructure work in New Brunswick, including NBDTI projects, VIS is seeking a motivated Junior Construction Project Manager to join our team.

This role is designed for someone early in their construction career with 1-2 years of experience who is eager to grow into a full Construction Project Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with project estimating, setup, and initiation activities, including preparing work packages and ensuring projects are properly created in internal Project Management software.
• Support the development of project schedules and budgets in collaboration with the Construction Manager or Project Manager.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, contractors, inspectors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate project deliverables to ensure the project team understands scope, timelines, and required tasks.
• Conduct field documentation and quality checks to ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, and project plans.
• Assist with tracking project financials, monitoring budget status, and flagging variances to senior staff.
• Support Health and Safety compliance by documenting site conditions, reporting hazards, and promoting VIS’s Safety First culture.
• Help complete project closeout documentation, including quantity tracking, reports, deficiency logs, and as-built information.
• Read and interpret engineered drawings, assisting with field verification and construction coordination.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management, or related field.
• 1-2 years of construction or civil infrastructure experience
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
• Basic understanding of construction documentation, drawings, standards, and project coordination practices.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites within New Brunswick.
