Job Description

We are currently recruiting for our client based out of Edmonton for a contract role in planning/scheduling:

Duration: 12 months

T4 contract

Location: Edmonton, AB

Role:

  • Participates in establishing initial construction plan by implementing templates and facilitating interactive planning sessions with key construction team members.
  • Prepares drafts of network logic diagrams for segments or the construction phase as applicable.
  • Performs forward and backward pass assessments during the preparation of the construction phase schedule and provides critical path analysis highlighting pertinent start and finish dates of milestones and activities.
  • Compiles, organizes construction planning information and prepares the related construction schedule versions with different levels of detail and criteria including the weekly, bi-weekly look ahead and general construction schedule.
  • Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out EVM tasks supporting in a timely and accurate manner the project controls and construction management efforts.
  • Utilizes Primavera P6 as scheduling and reporting tool.
  • Assists with the resource loading process of the applicable construction scopes.
  • Reviews short-cycle schedule impacts and prepares CPM project schedule analysis.
  • Collects, validates, and integrates schedule and earned value progress information from vendors and contractors.
  • Conducts progress audits by routine project walkthroughs.
  • Prepares different tabular and graphical construction schedule timeline and resources reports as required.
  • Assists in developing alternatives to accommodate changes and priorities.
  • Attends construction meetings and participates by providing the applicable reports.
  • Facilitates meetings with key construction project team members, vendors, and contractors to address and update the construction schedule status and forecast.
  • Assists the home office staff with the coordination, monitoring, reporting and oversight of the field activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Senior Engineer/Manager with 10+ years of experience working as Planning/Scheduling Engineer in EPC projects in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, industrial gases industries.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in leading teams at construction site, monitor and reporting schedules, managing subcontractors, stakeholder management.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Proven experience in the application of project management principles and techniques, including schedule development, resource management and earned value management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
