This is your opportunity to join an integrated hospital pharmacist practice in a beautiful community in Central Alberta! The Ponoka hospital is a 36-bed acute care facility that includes 28 continuing care beds and provides additional services onsite alongside a busy emergency department. The Ponoka Hospital provides a supportive, multidisciplinary environment for pharmacists to work to full scope. The Ponoka Hospital is a part of the Central Zone South Pharmacy team and provides remote support as needed for coverage to other sites within Central Zone South.
Description:
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications: Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP). Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position. Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education. Demonstrated good time management including the ability to switch priorities and multitask. Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Rural hospital experience an asset.
