Job Description

A K-12 educational institution in Grove City, OH, is seeking a qualified Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with students needing specialized physical education services, supporting their physical and motor development within an inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify students requiring Adaptive Physical Education services through observation and collaboration.
  • Participate in evaluation teams assessing motor and physical development abilities.
  • Develop, write, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students qualifying for Adaptive P.E.
  • Attend IEP meetings as necessary to ensure program effectiveness and compliance.
  • Collaborate with special education, general education, and regular P.E. teachers to design suitable Adaptive P.E. programs.
  • Deliver instructional programs meeting the individual needs of each student.
  • Work both one-on-one and with groups to enhance motor skills, coordination, and social-psychological performance.
  • Modify standard physical education curriculum to accommodate Adaptive P.E. students.
  • Provide in-service training for school staff and community members when requested.
  • Offer consultation and support to students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with P.E. instructors, special education staff, principals, and administrative personnel.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Special Education.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Special Education Teachers Certificate, specifically for Adaptive Physical Education.
  • Experience in assessing and developing motor and physical skills in students with disabilities.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with educational teams and families.
  • Commitment to fostering students maximum potential in physical development.
