Job Summary

We are looking for a Process Engineer who will develop technical solutions for our customers’ needs and to work independently in smaller-medium sized projects and/or be part of larger project teams within the Project Centre. In this role, you will be an expert responsible for technical solutions in the liquid food industry

You will be based in  Tokyo, Japan .

What you will do

  • Being the expert in liquid food industry solutions (dairy, beverage, prepared food etc)
  • Process Engineer for L1-L3 pre-projects, from order of magnitude to firm quotation.
  • Responsible for developing and refining the technical solution that meets the customer's requirements and needs.
  • Directly or indirectly creating the design documentation for the technical solution.
  • Preparation of Model documents for quotation.
  • Liaising with Business Streams to develop quotations for branded equipment.
  • To participate in hygienic risk assessments, equipment safety risk assessments and project risk assessments.
  • Handle the design specification, dimensioning and arrangement of process equipment and solutions
  • Defining line functionality, preparing Technical Descriptions and Process Functional Specifications
  • To estimate the engineering and commissioning activity costs to implement the project.
  • To prepare requests for quotation for mechanical completion work and collaborate with the supplier management team.
  • To work closely with the implementation team to ensure a smooth hand-over.
  • Participate in technical discussions with customer and or suppliers.
  • Promote the use of reuseable design and Tetra Pak's preferred design tools.
  • Representing the company in front of our customers, and show the value we can bring to them.

We believe you have

  • Strong drive for results, an analytic mindset, and can find common solutions
  • Good communication skills and the ability to create and maintain relationships are required, as the work includes close contact with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
  • You can structure your work efficiently to deliver accurate and timely results
  • You have knowledge of food safety & hygienic design, food industry standards, practices, and regulations
  • You are able to estimate cost or effort to complete tasks, and are confident working with pre-projects that have a high degree of uncertainty.
  • Fundamental knowledge of current legislation affecting process solutions, contractual and commercial awareness
  • You have gained at least 1 years of experience in Engineering or Food technology, particularly with experience in liquid process industries
  • University degree in Process Engineering, Food Technology, Chemical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or similar
  • CAD 2D/3D skills are an advantage, especially Plant3D.
  • Business level Japanese language ability, Good English language ability is an advantage
