Express is excited to partner with Broder Electric, a trusted electrical contracting company in Ottawa, to hire an experienced Project Manager/Estimator. As part of their collaborative team, you’ll help deliver high-quality projects and build lasting client relationships from planning through completion.

Required skills and qualifications

• 8-10 years within the electrical industry (ideally within ICI or utilities) – with a minimum of 5 years in a Project Manager and/or Estimator capacity
• Experience managing sizeable projects – ranging from $500k to $5M in value
• Sound understanding of CCDC 2
• Must be eligible to obtain Secret Level security clearance (clean criminal record, last 10 years of verifiable residential history in Canada, Permanent Resident or Canadian citizen)
• Excellent English communication skills, French considered an asset
• PMP, P.Eng, and/or CET considered an asset
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, Word and Excel
• Experience with Procore and Jonas considered an asset
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Keen attention to detail
• Must have valid driver’s license (for conducting site visits and client meetings)
• Highly organized and able to adapt to changing priorities
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Duties may include, but are not limited to

• Manage a portfolio of complex jobs/projects
• Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
• Full project life cycle ownership, including reporting on project success criteria results
• Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project
• Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
• Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership
• Manage project scope and changes. Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
• Act as an internal quality control check for the project and manage ongoing quality control by participating in quality issue resolution
• Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration, or litigation, as needed
• Support formal/informal schedules to manage the engagement contract
• Define the Statement of Work and Specifications for the requested goods and services
• Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues
• Ensure that projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
• Manage project issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline
• Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices
• Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm, overtime is required at times depending on workload and deadlines.
