Job Description
Do you find that the joy you once felt helping animals in a clinic is harder and harder to find? There is another way - where you still use your clinical instincts, but with dogs who are happy, healthy, and genuinely bring a smile to your face.
A Different Kind of Workday In a clinic, even the sweetest dogs often pull away from you.
Not because they don't love you - but because they're hurting, stressed, or scared.
Your job is to be steady and efficient, not to snuggle or connect for long.
Most days, there just isn't space for the softer side of why you entered this field.
Here, it's different.
When you walk into the playroom, the dogs run toward you, not away.
They lean their whole bodies into your legs.
They nudge your hands, asking for affection.
They relax because you're safe - not because they're bracing for a medical procedure.
And for the first time in a long time... you're allowed to enjoy that back.
Plus, you don't lose your vet assistant instincts here.
When two dogs wrestle and one walks away limping,
you do what comes naturally - check the leg, watch the gait, give them a break.
You're still helping animals.
You're still using your skills.
Just in a space where the dogs are enjoying themselves.
Work-Life Balance You Can Count On - You leave on time.
- Lunch break guaranteed.
- No holiday shifts (daycare is closed).
- No after-hours calls or questions.
- No "just stay a few more minutes."
- Your life outside work matters here.
What This Role Actually Looks Like This is a non-medical, behavior-focused crossover role. You'll:
- guide small, happy playgroups
- read dog body language and redirect gently
- move dogs between indoor/outdoor play areas
- notice subtle changes in behavior or mobility
- clean, sweep, mop, sanitize, and run laundry
- support shy, nervous, or new dogs as they adjust
- communicate clearly with a supportive, kind team
It's hands-on, meaningful work - without the emotional burden of clinic care.
