Job Description

A K-12 school in Aurora, IL is seeking an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for a contract position during the current school year (CSY). This role requires expertise in designing and implementing physical education programs tailored to students with diverse physical and developmental needs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver adaptive physical education lessons that accommodate individual student abilities and promote physical fitness, coordination, and motor skills.
• Assess student needs and progress, adjusting lesson plans accordingly.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to integrate physical education goals within individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Maintain accurate records of student participation and progress.
• Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students during physical activities.

Qualifications:

• Certification or licensure in Physical Education, with specialization or experience in adaptive physical education.
• Experience working with students from kindergarten through 12th grade, particularly those with special needs.
• Knowledge of physical education strategies and equipment adapted for students with disabilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
