Job Description

An opportunity is available for an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to serve students in grades K-12 at a school in Long Beach, CA. This contract position spans the next school year, offering the chance to contribute specialized physical education services tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized physical education programs that accommodate the unique needs of students with physical, developmental, and learning disabilities.
• Assess student abilities and adapt activities to promote physical fitness, motor skills, and social interaction.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to create supportive environments and ensure program effectiveness.
• Maintain detailed records of student progress and adapt curriculum as necessary to meet evolving needs.
• Promote inclusive physical activity and encourage participation in school-wide physical education events.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification or licensure in Adaptive Physical Education or related field.
• Experience working with K-12 students with diverse physical and developmental abilities.
• Strong knowledge of adaptive PE techniques, assessment tools, and modified equipment.
• Ability to develop individualized education plans and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills and a student-centered approach to teaching.
