Job Description

Role

A janitor's job involves cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining various areas within the residential apartment buildings, by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting. Janitors also manage waste disposal, replenish supplies like paper towels and soap, and report maintenance issues, sometimes performing minor repairs. They are responsible for following health and safety protocols, maintaining cleaning equipment, and keeping storage areas organized.

Key Responsibilities

• Cleaning and Sanitation: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, as well as dusting baseboards, furniture and surfaces.
• Waste Management: Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
• Supply Management: Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and replenish them as needed.
• Maintenance Reporting: Identify and report unsafe conditions, needed repairs, or issues with building systems to supervisors.
• Minor Repairs: Handle minor repairs, such as replacing light bulbs and assist maintenance personnel if and as needed.

• Heavy Lifting: Must be able to lift heavier items up to 30lbs.

Additional Duties

• Groundskeeping: Some janitors handle outdoor maintenance, including snow removal and tending to seasonal landscaping tasks, picking up litter around the properties. All the supplies and equipment will be provided.
• Other tasks as needed.

Probationary Period

• 3 months of probationary period.

Working Hours, Salary and Benefits

• 40 hours per week. Biweekly schedule to be provided by supervisor. (Might be required to work on weekends or evenings)
• $22 per hour.
• After successful completion of probationary period, the employee will be eligible for two weeks (10 days) of paid vacation accrued during the fiscal year.

• Class 5 Driver’s License
