Adecco is currently hiring a full-time skilled Health and Safety Lead- Operational Readiness to join our client’s team and provide leadership on multiple major water treatment projects in Sparwood, BC.

In this role is 85% administrative and 15% on field, you will represent the owner’s operations team, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting industry best practices, and driving operational readiness from design review to project handover.

Pay Rate: $60-$70/hr

LOA: $4000/ month

Location: Sparwood, BC

Shift: Monday - Friday | 8 hours a day with alternative Friday off

Contract Duration: Start ASAP to 30th June 2026

Responsibilities:

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
• Represent the owner’s operations team, proactively engage and provide leadership for the H&S OR scope across multiple major water treatment projects
• Provide progress updates and reporting on H&S OR deliverables to the Operational Readiness Lead
• Support in document and technical design reviews to ensure H&S code compliance and that industry best practices are followed
• Participate in project workshops (HAZOPs, HAZID, PSSR, etc.) representing the owner’s operations H&S department
• Review of operational documents (Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, EHSC plans, etc.)
• Develop and coordinate documentation required for the safe operation of new project assets (Traffic management plan, avalanche management plan, emergency response plan, etc.)
• Expand existing confined space program, lead in the development of confined space hazard assessments and entry procedures Expand existing water operations risk register, to include new project assets
• Coordinate the development and delivery of H&S training for new project assets
• Field H&S support during project handover including but not limited to: participation in system walk-downs and planning of commissioning activities
• Co-ordinate with hygiene lead to execute the health and hygiene OR readiness scope
• Any H&S deliverables required for the successful handover and start-up of new project assets as assigned by the Operational Readiness Lead

Qualifications:

• Candidate must be able to live in Elkford, Sparwood area.
• Minimum five years H&S experience in the mining or heavy construction industries.
• Experience in development of H&S documents required for the safe operation of new project assets (Support Confined Space Hazard Assessments, develop H&S Management Plans, develop Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans, develop Risk Registers, develop Security Management Plans, develop Hazardous Materials Storage and Management Plans and develop Lock Out Tag Out Protocols).
• Current CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation
• Knowledge of the BC HSRC (Mines Act)
• Experience in the recognition, evaluation and control of confined space hazards.
• Basic understanding of regulatory framework associated with appropriate local, national and international safety and environmental regulations
• Intermediate level skills for Microsoft Office products
• Experience working on large scale projects, process plant operation, or hazardous chemical industry is considered a valuable asset
• Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
